Kids BJJ Summer Camp in Longmont, CO

THREE SESSIONS · SUMMER 2026

Three weeks of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, character development, fun games, and yoga across June, July, and August — built to grow confident, respectful, capable kids ages 5 to 11.

A CAMP WITH PURPOSE

Train with purpose. Grow with confidence.

That's the philosophy your kids will see in action all week. Avant-Guard BJJ Summer Camp is five days of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, character development, movement, and play — taught by the same instructors who run our Little Guardians and Guardians programs year-round.

BJJ is the martial art that empowers smaller, younger people to handle larger opponents through technique and leverage — not strength or aggression. For kids, that translates to something even more important: the quiet confidence of knowing they can take care of themselves, paired with the self-control to never need to.

Our academy was founded by Brittany Borders, one of Colorado's most respected instructors and competitors, and is the first woman-owned Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy in Longmont. The same inclusive, ego-free culture that defines our regular classes runs straight through this camp.

Upcoming Camps

  • June 15th - 19th

    9:00AM - 12:00PM

    Respect, Manners
    & Bully Proof

The foundational session. Campers build the habits of respect — for instructors, training partners, and themselves — that anchor everything else they'll learn on the mat.

  • July 13th - 17th

    9:00AM - 12:00PM

    Perseverance
    & Bully Proof

The middle-of-summer session. Kids learn that the best Jiu-Jitsu — and the best version of themselves — comes from showing up, getting tired, and trying again.

  • August 3rd - 7th

    9:00AM - 12:00PM

    Integrity
    & Bully Proof

The send-off into the school year. Campers focus on doing the right thing even when no one's watching — on the mat, in the classroom, and everywhere in between.

WHAT THEY’LL EXPERIENCE

Four pillars. One unforgettable week.

Martial arts instructor and students in a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class, wearing gis and belts, in a martial arts dojo.

Every day blends real BJJ instruction with the kind of activities that make kids actually want to come back tomorrow.

‍ ‍01 BJJ Technique

Age-appropriate instruction in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fundamentals — escapes, controls, and positional awareness — taught the way we teach it year-round: clean, modern, and ego-free.

‍ ‍02 Character Development

A different focus each session — respect and manners, perseverance, or integrity — paired with bully-proofing skills taught all summer long.

‍ ‍03 Fun Games

Coach-led games that quietly reinforce coordination, teamwork, and the social skills kids actually use at school and on the playground.

‍ ‍04 Yoga Sessions

Guided yoga to build flexibility, body awareness, and the kind of focus that makes everything else — schoolwork, sports, even sleep — work better.

Built on our year-round kids programs.

Camp days are structured around the same age groupings we use in our regular schedule, so every child gets instruction matched to their stage.

Little Guardians · Ages 4–7

A playful, structured introduction to Jiu-Jitsu. Kids build coordination, body awareness, and core positional concepts through age-appropriate drills, games, and supervised live training with classmates their own size.

Guardians · Ages 8 and up

A step up in challenge and depth. Older kids develop more advanced techniques, sharper problem-solving, and the resilience that comes from drilling and sparring in a safe, supportive environment.

Schedule

Each session runs Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to Noon. Drop-off and pick-up at our Longmont academy at 1106 Francis St.

Who it's for

Boys and girls ages 5 to 11. Beginners are warmly welcomed — no prior martial arts experience needed. Kids who already train with us will find new challenges, deeper drilling, and lots of mat time with friends.

What to bring

Comfortable athletic clothes (or a gi if your child has one), a refillable water bottle, and a snack. We'll provide everything else, including mat space, equipment, and gear recommendations if you need them.

Spots are limited

To keep instruction quality high and ratios appropriate, we cap enrollment for each session. Once a session is full, registration closes — early sign-up is strongly recommended, especially if you have your eye on a specific week.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Questions, answered.

  • Absolutely — and many of our campers do. Each session has a different character development theme (respect, perseverance, integrity), so back-to-back sessions build on each other rather than repeating. Reach out and we'll help you plan the summer.

  • Not at all. Camp is designed to welcome complete beginners and challenge kids who already train. Our coaches scale instruction to each child's experience level, and the Little Guardians and Guardians age groupings mean every camper trains with peers their own size.

  • Yes — when taught properly, which is the only way we teach it. BJJ is a grappling art with no striking. We focus on control, leverage, technique, and respectful training partners. Coaches supervise every drill, and our culture is explicitly ego-free.

  • It's a character development focus that teaches kids how to recognize bullying, de-escalate confrontations, set boundaries, and stand up for themselves and others — physically and verbally. The goal is for your child to walk into any situation calm and capable, never needing to prove anything.

  • Every session includes the same core experience — BJJ technique, fun games, and yoga. The character development theme rotates: Session #1 focuses on Respect & Manners, Session #2 on Perseverance, and Session #3 on Integrity. Bully-proofing is woven through all three.

  • Absolutely. We have campers from across Boulder County and surrounding communities including Niwot, Firestone, Frederick, Erie, and Lyons. Our academy is at 1106 Francis St in Longmont — easy to reach from anywhere along the Front Range.

  • Find the session you want in our Upcoming Events section and use that session's RSVP button — it'll let us know exactly which week you're asking about. Or call us directly at (720) 487-0751 for any session.

  • Yes. Camp is taught by the same Avant-Guard instructors who run our regular Kids Programs. If your camper falls in love with Jiu-Jitsu (it happens), they can step right into Little Guardians or Guardians classes the following week.
